PureVPN Pros
- Good VPN speeds
- No DNS / IP / WebRTC leak
- More than 2,000 VPN servers in more than 140 countries
- User-friendly VPN applications
PureVPN Cons
- Desktop VPN application is not very good
Poor customer support
Ease of Use
PureVPN is easy to set up and won’t bother you, even if you are the most inexperienced VPN user. Just download the software, follow the installation instructions, and then enter your login information.
PureVPN applications are promising and clearly focus on the user experience, but it is not possible to think that further development of the application is good.
The main dashboard is easy to use and can be customized on demand (streaming, Internet freedom, file sharing, security, private IP), but PureVPN’s desktop applications are still a bit strange and outdated.
Well organized configurable options can be found in the settings menu of PureVPN.
PureVPN’s mobile applications are a bit smoother than desktop counterparts, without compromising on advanced features.
Server Locations
PureVPN has VPN servers in 140 countries on six continents and meets most of the popular locations such as North America and Western Europe.
PureVPN runs a large number of VPN servers. More than 2,000 in total. Some of these are virtual servers marked ‘V’ in PureVPN’s server locations list. All other physical servers are owned by PureVPN.
The most impressive is more than 300,000 IP addresses. This is one of the highest figures we’ve ever seen and guarantees high VPN speeds, greatly reducing the risk of server congestion.
13 different US city-level servers and four different Australian city-level server options mean PureVPN provides coast-to-coast coverage.
Speed and Reliability
PureVPN isn’t the fastest VPN we’ve tested, but it’s still pretty fast. Download and upload speeds on nearby servers are fast enough for bufferless streaming.
Before using PureVPN:
When you connect to PureVPN:
Download speed without PureVPN: 91.42Mbps
Download speed with PureVPN: 72.73Mbps
Loss of download speed when PureVPN is running: 20%
PureVPN performs well on international connections from the UK to Australia, but some long distance connections may perform slightly.
PureVPN has average ping times, so players may want to look at other low latency VPNs.
Platforms and Devices
PureVPN has a good range of specific applications for various devices, including:
- Microsoft Windows
- Apple MacOS
- iOS
- Android
- Linux
PureVPN’s applications are easy to install, take just a few minutes and are very easy to use. You can use PureVPN up to 5 devices at any time.
PureVPN stands out from other VPN services to provide custom apps for both Amazon Fire TV Stick and Android TV, so all you need to do is a good location to download the software from the app store and start streaming. There’s even a Kodi plugin for PureVPN.
PureVPN also provides proxy browser extensions for Google Chrome and Mozilla Firefox.
Note that when PureVPN’s browser extensions come with WebRTC leak protection, these proxy servers do not encrypt your connection, so they should not be used in place of the full desktop client. Still, a good extra bonus.

The longer you stay connected to PureVPN, the less you pay monthly, as with most VPNs.
A single month is the most expensive option at $ 10.95, but if you prefer a two-year plan, it drops to just $ 3.33 a month at a rate of 70%. They also have a reasonable annual plan of $ 5.81 per month.
Both of these long-term plans are extremely cheap. If you want to save money PureVPN is a very powerful competitor.
You cannot use PureVPN for free, but you can test PureVPN for 31 days without risk with a refund guarantee.
Encryption and Security
It was difficult to recommend PureVPN to anyone with strict privacy requirements due to previous issues with logging policy, but a recent revision means that this is no longer a problem.
The PureVPN application initially selects the ‘best’ VPN protocol for you, but we recommend using OpenVPN (UDP and TCP) as the best protocol for versatile performance and privacy. Encryption is performed with the ‘unbreakable’ password AES-256.
You can also connect to the following VPN protocols:
- IKEv2 – very fast and secure, perfect for mobile devices
- PPTP – very unsafe and easily breakable
- L2TP – usually secure
- SSTP – comes with some potential security risks
The VPN kill key is an important feature that blocks all web traffic that prevents your real IP address from being exposed if the VPN connection is down for any reason.
Customer Support
PureVPN’s customer support is pretty good, but they can still make some improvements. PureVPN has 24/7 live chat, which is very useful for quick and simple questions. Support staff respond promptly and gently, but their information does not cover more complex queries.
The Support Center on the website is absolutely comprehensive with many FAQs, troubleshooting suggestions and manual installation guides for many devices.
Do you recommend?
PureVPN does not have a clean history, but a new registration policy and independent auditing to support it has gained some of our trust.
