Ease of Use

Special applications are well designed and user-friendly, but very basic.
There are specific tabs for streaming or torrent-optimized servers, but there’s no way to save your favorite servers so they can be easily accessed later.
“Optimal Location kullanılabilir is available for those who want to connect to the fastest server closest to your physical location.
Server Locations
AVG Secure VPN’s server network covers only 36 countries.
Unfortunately, AVG’s website does not list the server network, making it difficult to check whether the country you need is available before purchasing it.
Fortunately, AVG Secure VPN servers will cover the most popular locations such as the US, UK, Canada, Australia, Western Europe and many other countries.
Speed and Reliability
AVG Secure VPN is not only as fast as our fastest VPNs, but also speeds for ordinary users.
If you approach one of the 36 server locations of AVG Secure VPN, the download speed for general scanning and Full HD video streaming on one or two devices at a time is around 20-30%.
To see which gives you the highest speed, be sure to test several nearby servers.
Before using AVG Secure VPN:
When you connect to AVG Secure VPN:
AVG Secure VPN’s download speeds are not very good and may not be suitable for torrent.
The ping times of AVG Secure VPN are acceptable, but there are better VPN services for players.
Platforms and Devices
AVG Secure VPN offers custom VPN applications for four popular platforms:
- Microsoft Windows
- Apple MacOS
- iOS
- Android
Unfortunately, AVG Secure VPN does not provide a manual workaround for other devices and platforms such as Linux.
You can use AVG Secure VPN on up to five devices at the same time.
AVG Secure VPN is not compatible with game consoles and streaming devices because it cannot be installed on your router and does not have any special VPN applications other than the four listed above. If you want to use VPN for Apple TV, Android TV, Amazon Fire TV Stick, Roku, Xbox, PlayStation, Chromecast and more, you’ll need to use another VPN service.
AVG Secure VPN does not have VPN browser extensions for Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox, Safari, or Opera users.

AVG offers different pricing plans to make your choice easier, the longer your subscription, the less you pay on a monthly basis. However, there is no monthly plan option.
You can choose from a 12-month plan to a three-year subscription, and they all have the same features.
The price of a single year is the most expensive, at $ 6.66 a month. You can reduce the cost to $ 6.11 per month on a three-year plan.
Is AVG Secure VPN worth the money? We don’t think so.
They are very expensive and much cheaper, much better and much safer VPN services are available.
It is only possible to purchase AVG Secure VPN using a credit / debit card or PayPal. This limitation puts it behind its competitors in terms of various payment methods.
AVG Secure VPN also offers a 30-day money back guarantee, but there are some restrictions. If you have used less than 10GB of data only and have not connected to the VPN service more than 100 times in total, you will be eligible for a refund.
Encryption and Security
AVG Secure VPN is a convenient VPN choice to protect your data on public WiFi networks, but we cannot recommend it to anyone with strict privacy requirements due to the logging policy.
AVG Secure VPN uses different VPN protocols for each of its specific applications:
- Windows and Android – OpenVPN (UDP) is our preferred protocol for the balance between privacy and performance.
- MacOS – L2TP / IPSec is an older protocol but is still considered secure.
- iOS – IKEv2 / IPSec is a very new VPN protocol that is secure, very fast and can perform network changes efficiently.
You cannot switch between VPN protocols when adding to AVG Secure VPN applications.
The encryption of AVG Secure VPN is done with a strong AES-256 password that is considered unbreakable. The Kill switch feature protects your data if a VPN connection breaks by blocking internet traffic and keeping your real IP address private. We did not experience any DNS, IP, or WebRTC leakage during our tests.
Customer Support
AVG’s customer support is disappointing and is not what we would expect from such a well-established cyber security company.
The support section of AVG’s website is well organized, and it took a long time for us to find relevant resources, as there wasn’t a clear section for the VPN service.
There are some basic FAQs, such as AVG Secure VPN applications that include some installation help and troubleshooting tips, and links to a mostly user-created community forum with very little data entry from AVG’s support team.
The only way to contact a support representative is through a support request form on the website. You will receive a response from a person only if you have a paid AVG VPN subscription, otherwise you will be directed to the FAQs.
Do you recommend?
Not really. AVG Secure VPN is not a bad VPN, but it is not very good. It can work with Netflix and torrent, but there are better VPNs for the same price or lower, with unobtrusive speeds and a privacy policy that doesn’t support customers, which collects a lot of user data.
